Agricultural earthmoving is seasonal and time-critical. Land clearing, levelling, dams and access roads all have to happen inside a narrow window before planting, which usually makes hire more sensible than purchase.

Estate work also needs material moved — inputs in, produce out — over farm tracks that are harder on a vehicle than sealed roads.
